HAPPY
BIRTHDAY OAKLEY, BRYAN AND MOM!! Give
OAKLEY lots of kisses for me.
And tell Bryan how much I
love and appreciate him.
Wowza. Well
let's see a couple of things that happened this week. The past week went really well. It kind of always
feels like a blur.
Okay so Monday
we had dinner at a member’s home. They live more in the country and it was all
rainy. He took us out to his garden and showed us around and then his wife
called us in for dinner and I could not have been more pleased with the entire
situation, felt like home. Anyway, I loved being there, because where we live
all the houses are so compacted and close together. I know that's weird coming from me who wants
to live in New York, but I also enjoy space. And there is an orange orchard
there and it's beautiful and smells amazing.
Ah, open space! |
The weather is still really
good. It hasn't gotten terribly hot. Oh goodness though, seriously maybe at
least 2-3 times a day someone tells us how Brutal the summers are. Everyone
feels the need to mention it. They say “You walk outside and instantly you are
soaked.” It's not even that hot yet and the other day when we were biking I
went inside for a lesson... and my sweat. And it's probably going to take
everything in me not to cut off my hair... but I can't, I won't.
We had Zone
conference and of course it was amazing and always much needed.
And a cool
thing that happened this week, we had this member referral and tried to contact
her several times but she was always sick. Then she called US one day this week
and asked us to come over that night. So
went met over and taught her. She says she's Muslim but believes in Christ
dying for us? I don't know but I'll take it. She's been a widow for about 6
years. So I'm really excited to help her.
On Thursday I
went on exchanges. Sister McCullough led out the area for the first time! She
did great!
I went to Olympia. We went to this place to eat called Yellow Dog Eats.
It's so dang cute, all the missionaries who serve in that Zone wrote their
names on the table and the walls.

When we were
trying to get back to my apartment that night Sister Larson’s car was over
heating. So we stopped at a gas station, and it kind of took a long time to get
going home. But Sister Larson didn't feel comfortable asking a stranger for help
and sure enough a member drives by to help us out.
As a Stake
we have been doing this Book of Mormon Challenge. Our stake president bought a
Book of Mormon for everyone who is willing to give one out. And we've handed
out about 89 of them already. And the Ward is loving it! I'm really excited about this moving the work
forward.
The other
day DW took us to dinner and we were talking about the church and then a
girl at another table says "Are you Christians?" And we said yes
and she asked if we could say a prayer for her because she was going through a
lot of family issues. So we talked with her for a bit. Then she found out we
were Mormon and went off about how the Bible is complete. So that was slightly
uncomfortable ha-ha. I know for certain God put her there to meet US The Mormon
missionaries, So we got her number and we will see what happens.
I just
wanted to share that I read through Moroni 10 the other day, and it left me
with such a strong sense of the importance of the Book of Mormon. I still
believe that God can create miracles like the ones we've read. But I do believe
it's according to our faith, and also His will. Often when people would say
"God's will" I would think "Oh if God wants to or not." But
I know it's much deeper than that. God’s will to answer us, is always
reflective of how much he knows and loved us. He may not answer us with an
angel, because he knows maybe that the answer will be stronger for us through
the scriptures, through our faith and trust. He sees who we can be, AND he sees
every little step on how we can get there.
I know that the gospel
provides a hope and assurance that other “things” simply cannot. And boy, do I
LOVE it.
