It's
me again.
Can
I tell you how crazy cool my life is?
Cause
it's crazy cool.
I'm
the luckiest girl In the world, we just got transfer news and I get to stay in
my dear Daytona and finish training Sister Schomaker 😀😀😀
First
off, because a picture says a thousand words...
And
these 3 describe me perfectly.
Here's to a very accurate depiction of seeing
investigators coming into church.
1)
My good friend T'Shoy is doing amazing. We actually saw her nearly everyday
this week. She's been doing her best to read and pray everyday, which is
something so foreign for her, so we're very proud. She's got a lot of desire.
One night we felt impressed to have a little movie night. We went to the
church, got one of the TV’s, made some popcorn and we watched some videos about
personal revelation- something she's really been struggling to understand. And
after each video we discussed and answered questions. It's really cool all the
different ways you can help people to learn if you think outside the box and
think more about what they need.
2)The
pictures below is our dear friend Ms. May. 90 years young. Crazy cool story
because a nonmember who lives next to her, that previously took the discussions
years ago remembered how service orientated the missionaries are and contacted
and sent us to visit her! She lives next to another investigator of ours so
every so often we stop by and give her a treat and sing her a song. She
adores the company and we adore her so it works out.
3)In
reference to my subject. We found a less active member the other day; he still
proudly claims to be a Latter Day Saint. But he's real big into dancing,
another member told him "Mormons don't dance" and he never came back.
NEVER! How sad. So don't worry we got him.
We
had the most amazing lesson with Leslie and Jessie this week. It was super cool
because as we were leaving the apartment I was looking at these sheets we have
called "23 questions answered by the Book of Mormon." Now, mind you
we already had our lessons for the day fully planned out in my OCD Brain. And
it was like; nope don't bring those it will throw you off. But the spirit spoke
and I listened. And in the most miraculous of ways, as it usually does, we get
in the lesson and the questions they brought up were right on that card. So we
went through a couple of them and read and discussed together, the spirit was
so strong. They both said they feel like God has been giving them more and more
answers that this is the path they should be on.
5)
The person I'm most excited we found this week is Shaniqua; we were going hard
all day. We were knocking on someone's door when we see Shaniqua walking in the
street and we turn and just run to her so quick. Talked about the restoration
of the gospel in the burning heat and she was so excited about it. She said,
"So do I need to like sign up to be able to learn more about this or
something?" NO WE GOT YOU SHANIQUA
6)
So basically for my whole mission I've been wanting to put on a talent
show..
and
WE DID IT!!! It was a success! Seriously it was so much fun, we had such
an amazing turn out, some of our friends were teaching performed and nearly all
of them were there.
We
had T'Shoy, Lou and Jason, Judy, Sandra and her daughter and granddaughter,
Jessie, Leslie and KG and Olivia. Of course Sister Schomaker and I had to
try to make it look as cute as possible.
I
don't know what's happening in this photo it seems super awkward
This
is my good friend Sister Sproge,
she helped us set up a lot.
Our
Saturday night was filled with baking cookies and making sacrament card
reminders... so our friends investigating the church don't go with empty
stomachs
and empty minds. Leslie
was real happy about the cookies.
Also
we put the stars from the talent show all around our room
Annnnnnnnnnd
I've learned a lot of valuable lessons recently
This is one of them.
But seriously,
I love my calling. I was just in awe this week about much I love
this gospel, this church, my Savior and Heavenly Father and how much they love
me.
I've been thinking a lot about my friends and family who for
whatever reason have decided to stray from the church. Whether it was in
offense, lack of understanding, or sometimes boredom.
I wish I could speak to you in an Elder Holland tone of voice
and plead for you to come back.
Get back in the boat, climb back up the mountain. It's hard, I
get that. It aches and hurts and is frustrating sometimes. But the view is oh
so good.
Try just try to see things from his perfect perspective.
All the things that aren't understood will be someday. I can
promise that, I believe that with my whole heart. There are in instances things
I struggle to understand.
Like Nephi I don't know the meaning of all things but "I
know he loveth his children."
And I KNOW the gospel works. It's the only true way to lasting
happiness. I guess that's what you have to decide. What I have to decide, do I
want to happy now? Or do I want to be happy forever?
I believe with everything I have that the Book of Mormon is
true.
I was born into something that I guess I didn't fully understand
until I made the decision to move across the country and preach about it.
Now that's crazy when you think about it,
But I understand something now that I'm not quite sure how
anyone really goes on without.
I wish every person I meet or have ever met would know that I
share it because I love it, I love Him and I love them.
The church is true, and my heart is full to the brim.
Have a good week.
