The Gospel and Peanut Butter Changed Me!: Week 41

Catching lizards before church
My Name is Sister Sorensen
From the F-O-M
Spreading the gospel like there's no end.
Here's my weekly email.
Don't know where to start,
So we will kick it off with a rap
And end with a heart  💗

I will just number a couple of things from this week for ya.
Donuts before District Meeting

1  1.  The other day we went tracting... we decided to walk to this apartment complex instead of drive.. big mistake. It was so humid. How embarrassing this is but we were literally drenched in sweat when we got back to our apartment. Drenched.
RAIN tracting again!
    2. Okay so usually when knocking doors we just ask people if they know someone, it gets them more comfortable, less afraid of us, and they feel helpful. Usually we just use a members name in the area. Ask if they know them. This time we decided to make up a name, Trevor Park. So we get to this one door and this guy goes "Yeah he doesn't live here anymore" and I'm like "Trevor Park?!" And he's like yeahhh, I get his mail though. And Sister Schomaker and I look at each other.. making every attempt not to laugh. I questioned him so many times I'm sure he was so confused. So don't know if the truth was being said or that was a weird coincidence, but either way it was funny.

    3. We extended a date to our good friend Jason. We're shooting for early September, he's pretty excited! I've never seen someone like our pamphlets more than Jason, it's awesome. He reads them over and over again. We also did a church tour with him and his mom this week, it was awesome because the members we brought, found out she knew her from high school.

    4. We got Fro Yo with our other friend we're teaching, T'Shoy -earlier this week. It was so funny because we were sitting outside and all the sudden we were just getting attacked by dragonflies... they were flying right for us. Didn't make it too spiritual but it was funny. Most people we teach have a foundation in some religions beliefs, but he has none. So it's been very interesting, good learning curve to adapt teaching skills.

5. Leslie and Jessica are doing well! We planned a talent show this week, and Leslie's daughters are going to preform. And we're preforming with T'Shoy😂

    6. We had the sweetest lesson with another friend we are teaching. Her name is Tynia. And she has never really prayed. We taught her to pray and we saw her later in the week. So humbly she told us about all these questions she's been asking our Father in Heaven. She was having a pretty rough day and we had a very powerful lesson on getting answers through the scriptures. At the end she told us she felt so peaceful and so happy, despite the circumstances.

It was an amazing outstanding wonderful happy week
(Other than the time drunken men followed us)

Thoughts..

I was reading in Helaman 5 this week, about how proud Nephi and Lehi were of their names, because of who their father Helaman named them after.
President George Albert Smith tells a story about how he has a dream where he saw his grandfather who he was named after, and he asked him a question he's never forgotten.
"I would like to know what you have done with my name." He said. He related this to how we should think about what we have done with the Saviors name.
It's something I've pondered on this week.
I try to think to myself every morning "What will you do with his name today" and try to make it a goal every night to think  "What have I done with his name today."
It's brought so much more significance in my life, remembering the covenants I've made at baptism. I'm grateful for my Savior and the opportunity to share his gospel and represent Him.
I have to remember that all I do (both before and now and after my mission) is in His name, really remembering that, which often is not easy. And that can change completely the way I think and act.

There are many wonderful things we can do with us name!
